Doing XYZ Right NOW!

I’m pretty certain I have won blog-land’s all time worst blogger award. Actually, that’s probably an over statement as I’m probably not even welcome in blog-land.

Lately I have been making an attempt at just getting things done instead of just thinking about getting things done.  Tell me I’m not the only one who does that?  Come on! Really?  It’s when you busily rush from one thing to the next, haphazardly semi-completing tasks while all the things you “need” to do pop in your head.  Then you file them in your mind’s “to do” list. You know, the one that already has 1.5 million things on it, and you say to yourself, “Oh yah, that’s right, I need to  do XYZ.” Then the next day, it pops in your head again, and again you say, “Oh yah, that’s right, I need to do XYZ.” And this cycle repeats itself daily (often for weeks) until you finally do XYZ, or you give up on the idea of XYZ, or your husband threatens to divorce you if you don’t finally complete XYZ.

Gosh! I just made myself tired just explaining that! Anyway, I’m really making an attempt at doing things the moment they pop in my head. Yes, some things need to be filed away for a later time. Like when I’m at work and remember that I need to bathe the dogs. But the things that can be done that moment, I’m doing! Like now. I was updating some of my photos and I thought, I should add a new post to my website. (Which in the previous months I thought of 100 times.) But this time, here I am. It’s a lot of blah, blah, blah. But I’m posting.  Hooray!

On another note, I thought I’d share a dresser/buffet I did for our home last November.  I kept it for a while and then took it to Hammer & Thread where it is now for sale.

Here it was when I first got it. I swear it weighs like 400 pounds. It’s a beast.

Here are some afters.

Well there. Now that wasn’t so hard. I thought of it, I did it, and now I’m done. And you know what? It feels good!!!!  Now…off to do ABC.

  1. I too have XYZ syndrome. So after reading your blog, I decided to start writing down an XYZ list in the hopes that by actually seeing it in front of me I can prioritize and possibly accomplish more. Now if I could only remember where I put that list……
    BTW: Beautiful bureau.
